中文摘要: 激光诱导击穿光谱对于宝玉石的定量分析一直是研究热点和难点,为了拓展激光诱导击穿光谱在宝石学研究与检测领域的应用,本文采用激光诱导击穿光谱(LIBS)对22个缅甸翡翠样品进行镁、钙含量的测量和分析,选取选择Ca(315.954 nm)、Mg (285.210 nm)和作为定标分析谱线,以Si(288.170 nm)光谱线作为内标谱线。以15个样品分别绘制出了基于谱线强度和基于谱线积分强度的MgO与CaO内定标曲线,基于谱线强度内定标法分析建立的MgO与CaO拟合曲线的相关系数R2分别为0.904和0.949,以检验集中7个样品检验定标曲线,MgO与CaO的LIBS测量值与参考值的相对偏差分别为9.43%-42.19%、4.067%-55.21%,与样品参考值的偏差分别优于0.47%、0.73%;而基于谱线积分强度内定标法分析建立的MgO与CaO元素拟合曲线的相关系数R2分别为0.947和0.973,以检验集中7个样品检验定标曲线,MgO与CaO的LIBS测量值与参考值的相对偏差分别为3.70%-34.91%、3.76%-37.28%,与样品参考值的偏差分别优于0.56%、0.49%。实验结果表明,基于谱线的积分强度的内定标法提高LIBS 检测翡翠中MgO与CaO的精确度。研究表明LIBS对翡翠样品的定量分析具有可靠的重复性和准确性,在宝石学研究领域具有重要的应用潜力。
Abstract:ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Quantitative analysis of mineral components, especially in complex minerals like jadeite, has been a challenging task in geology and gemology research. Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) has emerged as a promising technique for elemental analysis due to its ability to analyze multiple elements simultaneously, its non-destructive nature, and low detection limits. However, applying LIBS to complex mineral samples like jadeite requires overcoming challenges such as spectral overlap and matrix effects. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility and accuracy of using LIBS for quantitative analysis of magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca) in Myanmar jadeite samples. Specifically, the study aimed to establish calibration curves for MgO and CaO using both line intensity and line integral intensity methods, evaluate their accuracy, and compare the results with those obtained from LA-ICP-MS analysis. METHODS: Twenty-two Myanmar jadeite samples were prepared and analyzed using a LIBS system consisting of a Nd:YAG laser, an ICCD detector, a spectrometer, and a computer. Calibration curves for MgO and CaO were established based on line intensity and line integral intensity methods using Si as an internal standard. The accuracy of LIBS analysis was assessed by comparing the results with those obtained from LA-ICP-MS analysis. RESULTS: The study successfully established calibration curves for MgO and CaO in Myanmar jadeite samples using both line intensity and line integral intensity methods. The correlation coefficients (R2) for MgO and CaO curves based on line intensity were 0.904 and 0.949, respectively, while those based on line integral intensity were 0.947 and 0.973, respectively. The relative deviations of MgO and CaO LIBS measurements from LA-ICP-MS reference values ranged from 3.70% to 42.19% and from 4.067% to 55.21%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrate that LIBS is a promising technique for quantitative analysis of MgO and CaO in Myanmar jadeite samples. The line integral intensity method showed superior accuracy compared to the line intensity method, reducing the influence of matrix effects and experimental parameter fluctuations. These findings highlight the potential and feasibility of using LIBS in gemological research for quantitative analysis of complex mineral samples like jadeite.
