Determination of ten Elements in Al-Ti-B alloys by ICP-AES

Abstract:
      The amounts of ten elements (Ti, B, Fe, Si, K, Zn, Mn, Mg, Ni and V)in Al-Ti-B alloys were determined simultaneously by ICP-AES. The analytical lines, which were chosen to characterize the ten elements included Ti 336.121nm(Ⅱ),B 249.772nm(Ⅰ),Fe 239.562nm(Ⅱ),Si 251.611nm(Ⅰ),K 766.490nm(Ⅰ),Zn 206.200nm(Ⅱ),Mn 257.610nm(Ⅱ),Mg 285.213nm(Ⅰ),Ni 231.604nm(Ⅱ)and V 290.880nm(Ⅱ). The optimal instrument conditions were determined as following: 1350W of frequency power , 0.80L/min of nebulizer gas flow and 14.0mm of view distance. The matrix induced interference was eliminated by matrix matching method. Precision and recovery were tested, giving results of recovery in the ranges of 90%~105% with RSD (n=6) of 0.4%~4.3%. It concluded that the method was accurate and simple with satisfactory precision and was suitable for routine quality control analysis.
