Abstract:
Silicon-calcium alloy is a steel deoxidation agent. If there are any free silicon and silicon dioxide impurities in the alloy, deoxidation effect will be affected. There is no national standard for the free silicon analysis for silicon-calcium alloy. In this paper, a new photometric method was developed to analyze free silicon content. The conditions for the extraction of non-alloy phase silicon using sodium hydroxide solution were studied. The silicon content was determined by silicon-molybdenum blue photometric method. The average recovery rate of the method is 95.9%. The method can be used to determinate non-alloy phase silicon in silicon-calcium alloy.
