Abstract:
Bismuth (III) reacts with thiourea and form a colored complex at which of the maximum absorption is 460 nm wavelength. The relationship between the absorptions and the concentrations of Bi (III) in the range of 0.059~5.7 μg/mL obeys Beer’s Law. The regression equation was Y=0.0117+0.17319X with the correlation coefficient R=0.9999. The relative standard deviation (RSD) was 2.66% and the detection limit was 0.013 μg/mL. The molar absorptivity was 3.72×104 L mol-1 cm-1. The experimental results show that the solubility of the bismuth oxide, bismuth and bismuth sulfide in the acetic acid solution of thiourea was 0.077, 1.347 and 1.245 μg/mL, respectively. The order of solubility increases as bismuth oxide> bismuth sulfide> bismuth. The recoveries for bismuth oxide, bismuth and bismuth sulfide were 97.4%, 98.1% and 96.6%, respectively.
