Abstract:
A new method for determination of the oxygen content in nickel-titanium (NiTi ) alloy by inert gas fusion-infrared absorption method was developed. The effects of flux, sample weight, minimum analysis time and comparator level on determination results were investigated. The oxygen contents in the NiTi alloys were determined at the following conditions: the flux ( nickel) amount of 1g, the analytical powers of 4.5 kW to 5.5 kW, the analytical time of 30s, the comparator level of 2. The relative standard deviations of oxygen is 1.8 %. The determination results of the standard samples are consistent with the certified values. The inert gas fusion-infrared absorption method is simple, quick and accurate. It was proved that this method can meet the requirement for application in production process. The development of this method is significant for industrial process research and production quality control.
