Abstract:
A method was established for direct determination of mercury in laterite nickel ores by pyrolysis atomic absorption spectrometry with gold amalgamation. The experimental results indicated that the concentrations of mercury in the samples were in a range of 57~1 752 μg/kg with the relative standard deviation (RSD) in a range of 1.6%~5.3%(n=11). The recovery of mercury was in the range of 92.79%~94.77%. The deviation between this method and the cold vapor generation-atomic absorption spectrometry method was 5.18%~11.93%. The results suggested that this method was accurate and rapids and has the advantage of small sample consumption and no reagent contamination. Thus, this method is suitable for batch analysis and worth for widespread application.
