Abstract:
In order to investigate the similarities and differences between atomic absorption spectrometry and atomic emission spectrometry for the determination of total chromium in industrial waste water, we separately applied these two methods to determine the total chromium in industrial waste water and made a comparison of the testing results. Sample pre-treatment, the standard curves, the detection limits of the method, accuracy, precision, interference and its elimination were compared between the two methods. Furthermore, the comparison results were analyzed using t-test, showing the two methods were in good agreement. However, the performance indexes of atomic emission spectrometry were superior in all aspects to atomic absorption spectrometry.
