Abstract:
A rapid and accurate method for the determination of total mercury in food was established. The samples were analyzed using a model Hydra II mercury analyzer by direct injection. Experimental conditions were obtained by the analysis of 10 kinds of the certified reference materials such as celery, onion, chicken, etc. The results showed that a good linearity was demonstrated in the range of 0.2~100 ng, and all the found values were in good accordance with the certified values. The proposed method has high sensitivity, quick analytical speed, and it had no effect by sample pretreatment. This approach provides a viable alternative for rapid determination of total mercury in food.
