Abstract:
A method for simultaneous determination of formic acid, acetic acid, acrylic acid and methacrylic acid in water samples was proposed. Using IonPac AS11-HC as theanion exchange column and KOHas the eluent, four organic acids were well separated and their concentrations were determined by gradient elution. The mean recovery of the four organic acids was in the range of 80.2% - 103.3%, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were less than 5.8%. The detection limits were 0.005, 0.003, 0.005 and 0.004 mg/L,, and the quantification limits were 0.020, 0.012, 0.020 and 0.016 mg/L, respectively. The method is accurate, convenient and environment-friendly, and is suitable for the determination of four organic acids in real water samples. . Moreover, the existence of common ions does not influence the determination of the contaminants.
