Abstract:
Rare earth elements (REEs) (Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu) samples in a large amount of ion adsorption type rare earth ore samples in Zhejiang province were leached and determined. After REEs leaching performance of ammonium chloride solution was compared with that of ammonium sulfate solution, ammonium sulfate was chosen as the leaching agent owing to fewer impurities. Besides, the ion adsorption type rare earth ore samples with different REEs contents were also tested. The results showed that the leaching method is stable and can meet the requirements of industrial exploitation. Thus, a new method was put forward to determine REEs components in leaching solution by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The contents of REEs was measured after the leaching solution was diluted in large proportion and acidized. The proposed method has high precision and can satisfy the quality demands of ionadsorptive REEs evaluation in ores. The detection limits (6σ) were 0.005 ~ 0.259 μg/g. The relative standard deviations (RSDs, n=6) for single element content and total elements contents were less than 6.0% and 4.0%, respectively. The method was applied to the determination of REEs in real samples in ion adsorption type rare earth ore with satisfactory results.
