Abstract:
A qualitative and quantitative method were built for the determination of fluorescent whitening agents in food contact materials by molecular fluorescence spectrometry. The maximum excitation wavelength and the maximum emission wavelength of the fourteen fluorescent whitening agents were measured, and the qualitative results were obtained by the fluorescent spectrum. The quantitative determination method for fluorescent whitening agents was achieved by the analysis of the three common used stilbene-based fluorescent whitening agents (VBL, BA and CXT). The- results showed that the linear range of this method was 0~1.0 μg/mL with a good correlation coefficient (r2>0.999). The detect limit- was 2.3 μg/g with the recovery of 92.9%~105.7%. The relative standard deviation (RSD) was less than 5%. The proposed method can satisfy effectively the requirement of the determination of fluorescent whitening agents in food contact materials.
