Abstract:
An ion chromatography method for the determination of sulfate (SO42-) in amine solutions, which using for absorbing sulfur dioxide in exhaust gas was established. The samples were separated and achieved on a SUPP4-250 analytical column. Chromatographic conditions were selected as follows: mixtures of 1.8 mmol/L sodium carbonate and 1.7 mmol/L sodium bicarbonate as gradient eluents, flow rate of 1.0 mL/min and 20 μL of injection volume. The experimental results showed that there was a good linear relationship (r>0.999) between the peak area and the content of SO42- in the range of 1.00~100.00 mg/mL. The recovery was between 94.25% and 106%, and the relative standard deviation (RSD, n=7) was 2.1%~0.59%. The experimental results were in accordance with those obtained by gravimetric method. This method is simple and fast, and can meet the requirement of daily analysis for the determination of sulfate in amine solutions.
