Abstract: |
Iron (Fe), aluminum (Al) and silicon (Si) content in chromium were determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Hydrochloric acid was used for sample dissolution and standard addition method was used to eliminate the matrix effect interference. The instrument parameters and the analytical line for the elements to be measured were discussed. Determination of these elements in a standard metal chromium sample was achieved at the optimum conditions. Linear correlation range, detection limit, precision and rate of recovery were discussed. The relative standard deviations were less than 1% (n=7). The recoveries for the three elements were in the range of 96.9 % – 101 %. This method is successfully applied to the detection of impurity elements in chromium metal. |
