Abstract:
Gold and silver content in a copper anode sample were simultaneously determined by a fast fire assay-gravimetric method. The sample was melted at high temperature with the appropriate amount of flux, and lead enriched gold and silver to form a lead buckle. The gold-silver beads were obtained by cupellation of the lead buckle. Gold was separated from the silver-gold alloy bead by treatment with nitric acid. Gold and other impurity elements in the dissolved solution were determined by ICP-AES. The mass of silver was equal to the mass of bead minus the mass of gold and impurity elements. This method showed good precision and high accuracy. The recovery rate of the gold and silver was between 97.6% and 102%.
