Abstract:
The harmless disposal and resource utilization of sludge are currently concerned by social attention, and comprehensive evaluation of sludge quality is a prerequisite for sludge disposal and utilization. Comprehensive evaluation of the sludge "incineration+ash utilization" disposal was conducted based on the results of elemental analysis, taking into account its carbon emissions and risks, using sludge from 8 regions. The industrial element analysis of sludge found that the calorific value in sludge from regions 1, 7, and 8 were 11.60 MJ/kg, 10.39 MJ/kg and 12.04 MJ/kg and organic contents were 53.98%, 51.23% and 54.97% respectively, which were significantly higher than other regions, and there was a significant positive correlation between calorific value and organic components (p<0.05). However, the heavy metal contents of sludge in regions 1, 2, and 6 was relatively high, and Ni, Cu, and Zn accounting for a large proportion in the sludge leaching solution of 8 regions, was about 90%. From the analysis of carbon emissions and risks, the carbon compensation of regions 1, 7, and 8 were 958.59 kgCO2/t, 909.08 kgCO2/t and 963.39 kgCO2/t respectively, which had larger carbon compensation amounts and smaller carbon emissions. However, for sludge brick making and cement clinker disposal in region 1, the comprehensive pollution index were 0.72 and 0.71 respectively, which was within the pollution warning range (0.7~1.0). Based on comprehensive evaluation, it can be concluded that the "incineration+ash utilization" disposal should be adopted for the sludge in regions 1, 7, and 8. However, attention should be paid to the risk of heavy metal pollution when disposing of sludge in region 1. The elemental analysis of sludge can provide scientific guidance for the incineration disposal of sludge.
